What is the Best Treatment for Brazilian Butt Lift Scars?

The popularity of buttock volume enhancement started a few decades ago with the introduction of buttock implants placed through hidden incisions in the buttock crease. There was always a motivation to make incisions smaller and less visible, reduce the need for buttock implants, and reduce the procedure from a major surgery to a less-invasive alternative. The Brazilian Butt Lift was introduced in response to these issues and allowed plastic surgeons to sculpt the buttocks with a patient’s own fat and reduced the size and types of scars.

Most Brazilian Butt Lift procedures employ standard liposuction techniques to harvest fat from the body. The liposuction incisions can vary from a few millimeters to a centimeter in length and are placed in different locations depending on a patient’s anatomy and surgeon preference.

Some of these scars can display hypertrophic or keloid features, indent, or become discolored and dark. Many patients complain of bad scarring resulting from dark liposuction or Brazilian Butt Lift scars.

There are many options to consider when choosing the best treatment for Brazilian Butt Lift scars including the size of the scars, whether they are indented or raised, the presence of keloid reaction, and whether they are textured or smooth. Dark scars are sometimes difficult to treat but respond well to a specific scar regimen that includes the Plato’s Scar Therapy Mini Kit.

The Scar Therapy Mini Kit includes Plato’s Scar Serum and Plato’s Dark Scar Corrector. Initial therapy includes twice daily application of the products with the Plato’s Dark Scar Corrector applied onto the scars before the Scar Serum. If the scars are very dark, application of a Melapads wipe should be done prior to the application of the creams.

Additional treatments for Brazilian Butt Lift scars include laser therapy, RF, fibrous release and fat grafting, intralesional injections, and scar modulation. These treatments can be started after initiation of the Scar Therapy Mini Kit regimen for a few weeks.
