Dark Undereye Circles
Dark undereye circles are a very common, yet unavoidable part of aging. They can make you look tired and sleepless. There are many reasons behind undereye circles…some of which are avoidable and others not.
Thinning of the Skin and Fat Around the Eyes:
Genetic influences can affect how the skin around the lower eyelids change with time. Most men and women will notice a gradual thinning of the lower eyelid skin, coupled with a loss of fat around the tear trough area. The combination of thin skin, bulging eyelid fat, and loss of tear trough fat can cause bulging eyelid circles that can dramatically age the skin.
Solution: Undereye fillers such as Restylane, Belotero, and Sculptra.

Loss of Lower Eyelid Collagen:
Collagen is an essential building block of the skin. With age, the amount of collagen in the lower eyelids begins to diminish; leading to characteristic dark eyelid circles. As the skin thins, the blood vessels in the lower eyelids begin to show through much more, causing a patterned bluish/purple discoloration to the lower eyelids.
Solution: Replenish Retinoid Cream to Boost Skin Collagen Levels
Â
Eyelid Discoloration and Hyperpigmentation:
The influence of aging, genetics, lack of sleep, hormones, and chronic UV sun damage can cause excessive pigment to deposit in the lower eyelids. The dark undereye circles begin to become more noticeable as the discoloration increases and the skin thins out. This is by far the most treatable part of undereye circles.
