Dark Scar Correction with Melarase Creams

Dark scars usually result from PIH (post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation) in which the pigment melanocytes are hyper stimulated, producing excessive amounts of melanin within the skin. PIH can be controlled by first using Melarase creams followed by fractional lasers to reduce pigmentation. Using lasers first may be problematic, as the laser light may further worsen the pigmentation.

We recommend the following skincare products for dark scars:

Melarase AM: Day-time skin lightener with SPF 30
Melarase PM: Night-time skin lightener
Melapads: Daily Exfoliating Pads

Usage:

Apply Melapads to the face, followed by one pump of Melarase AM in the morning
Apply Melapads to the face, followed by one pump of Melarase PM in the evening before bed.

Additional Products:

Elevase Moisture Booster: Daily ceramide cream that helps moisturize the skin.

Scar Modulation: Massaging your scar can reduce inflammatory mediators that are responsible for chronic inflammation and scar overgrowth. Start by applying a thin coat of Plato's Scar Serum twice daily to the scar and gently massaging the scar footprint. Be gentle, taking care not to slough off newly formed skin and reducing shear force on the dermis. This is ideal for new and old scars.
