Can I use Kareskin Melarase or Luminase to lighten the inner thighs?

Can I use Kareskin products to reduce inner thigh and pubic pigmentation?

We are often asked whether Kareskin products such as Melarase AM and Melarase PM; or Luminase and Exfolase body brightening creams can be used to lighten discoloration on the inner thighs, armpits, and pubic areas. We recommend the body brightening kit which includes Melapads, Luminase body lotion, Exfolase body lotion, and Replenish retinoid cream to decrease melanin production in these areas of dark discoloration.

Depending on your skin type, complexion, and amount of deep dermal pigmentation, it usually takes a few months for the creams to lighten the skin. Rapid resolution is not preferred, because laser depigmentation may increase your risk of scarring and PIH post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

If the skin is very discolored, we advise a combination protocol that starts with the application of the body brightening kit to prep the skin, followed by application of light chemical peels and/or fractional laser treatments to eliminate discoloration. The skin prep with the Kareskin body brightening kit allows for a greater buffer of safety and lower risk of recurrence.

Scar Modulation: Massaging your scar can reduce inflammatory mediators that are responsible for chronic inflammation and scar overgrowth. Its a rather simple technique that inactivates celluar infammation mechanisms that can lead to keloid and hypertrophic scars. Start by applying a thin coat of Plato's Scar Serum twice daily to the scar and gently massaging the scar footprint. Be gentle, taking care not to slough off newly formed skin and reducing shear force on the dermis. This is ideal for new and old scars.
